The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 退隐的高手，叛逆的儿子，“连鱼都能追踪”的墨西哥人，满满一袋钱……西部片没有这些俗套的设定也就不好看了。
电影的优点来自原著，缺点来自除了文本其它平平。中间那一段幻想华彩明显放错了地方。估计是篇幅的原因，收尾太晚太轻。而最致命的是，对于主题与现实的关联有些肤浅。看完觉得最厉害的是巴尔扎克。

220721 住院期间第一部电影。没有看过原著，拍出来的剧情比《红与黑》要吸引人。惊讶于当时贵族的阅读量，原来人真的可以看这么多份报纸。。。。
我觉着吧，这部片子要和《法兰西》一起看 200年前的法国，和现在的法国，同样充满着谎言的媒体，除了钱他们什么都不需要
也没爽到什么，开始大舅哥被爆了头，大家枪法集体失准。
巴尔扎克看穿了欲望的本质啊……一切的龌龊和堕落几百年没变过。有了巴尔扎克的文本，电影已经成功一半了
这不就是完全可以拿电影里的话来评价这部电影嘛。不好意思我唱衰，我觉得没有吧这个无解性拍出来，那么幻想就是咎由自取，我对让我人物毫无同期，女性角色太扁平。

而且各位演员的表演也有点不平均，Lucien的演员表现还是比其他人稚嫩了不少。明明是可以拍成Barry Lydon那种史诗气质的片，可惜了。
开头乡间部分诗意盎然，中间部分平白。
《娱乐至死》、《什么在决定新闻》、《红与黑》、《远大前程》等的混合体。巴尔扎克在那个年代就把报社和新闻、舆论界嘲讽个遍，笑死，放在当下也完全吻合。“Je pense a ceux qui doivent en eux trouver quelque chose apres le desenchantement.”无论是19世纪的巴黎还是今天的我们，在这浮华生活的背后，内心的力量是良知、真理、坚定的决心。
