The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 我一直以为导演是男性，边看边说，我要向这位导演脱帽致敬，居然可以把男人看得这么精准透彻，结果刚才豆瓣下载海报才发现，误会了，导演是女性，很棒~🤣🤣🤣
2021年的最后一部电影，非常适合在上海的跨年夜看的一部非常上海的电影，好笑又好看，如果熟悉上海一定能get到，如果能听懂上海话就能get到更多乐趣，而且这部电影还很女性视角。非常喜欢鞋匠这个角色，彷佛扫地僧般的存在。还有，这个《爱情神话》居然真的是费里尼的《爱情神话》！第一次看到这个片名就想到了费费，最后大家一起看这部电影的反应也是很真实了哈哈哈哈…… 我爱费费！2021.12.31 @静安 百美汇
曾经在安福路附近住了很多年。每周末去跑步，上瑜伽课。想念那些漂亮的老洋房和梧桐树，湖南路上看起来贵气又神秘的兴国宾馆，每隔一段时间就会倒闭换招牌的精致的咖啡店，随便走走就会遇见的巴金故居。再走走还有华山医院漂亮的小花园和上海图书馆。晚上下班时延安高架两边的夜景，遍布街角的明亮温暖又干净整齐的24小时便利店的窗口，相熟的早餐铺水果摊和菜场的阿姨。想念上海话，想念总是被人称作“小姑娘”然后被碎碎念。太多了。一遍一遍地爱上上海的瞬间。
4. 李小姐和格罗瑞亚的微信使用习惯：李小姐从来都是文字输入，而且一两个字的回复也必用句号结尾。格罗瑞亚从来都是语音输入。
认定了李小姐之后，就坚定的为对方付出，承包了接送孩子、辅导功课的任务，甚至提供住处，面对风情万种的野猫和有过感情基础的前妻，也没有改变自己的选择。
有了资本和地位以后，在中国这个商业化严重的市场中也能拍点自己想拍的。就值得多一星。电影的整体感觉就是差点意思，但又觉得难能可贵。影片最触动我的是，所有主要角色，都没有大名。敬我们的白老师，李小姐，格格瑞亚，老乌。
有点点上海版小伍迪艾伦的味道，不同的是虽然剧情的推进是通过徐峥饰演的男性角色的，但影片是充满女性视角的，整体自然流畅又舒服。片子里有很多“冒犯”的、“造反”的、内涵社会现象和文艺圈现状的台词，也难怪这片口碑爆的时候有老导演看不惯看不起喷本片导演。我想“女人一辈子不造一次反是不完整的”也是导演本人的态度。
很舒服很慵懒，如果不是费里尼《爱情神话》浪漫的彩蛋，我更喜欢叫《友情神话》，我也希望多年后有一群挚友可以喝酒聚餐，最好的朋友为我，亦或是我为他策展，我或他的名字大大的放在那里，希望他走的比我早，我可以把共友聚一起给他扫墓，办追悼会，一起看他最想看的电影。
真的太精彩了
三星半，确实是今年院线华语片最有腔调的一部，出自一个初执导筒的文青编辑，也难怪都说这片子符合豆瓣的口味。
只有喜欢不喜欢
格洛丽亚看完《爱情神话》后发的朋友圈完全就是我的心声了。
7分。1. 氛围和节奏还行，但是故事有点散。2. 充分体现了上海人的小资情调，天价小洋房，老式自行车，咖啡店威士忌，绘画电影，跨国婚姻，但又絮絮叨叨鸡毛蒜皮得过且过。3. 主角如果没有这房子，估计这些女人们就都闪了，的确是个神话
小皮匠在皮匠摊上喝咖啡吃蛋糕聊女人，居然不显得突兀。有意思。
跟我喜欢还潮的歌一样，知道有点缝合怪的意思，但就是好听好看呀。
1.差点被片名劝退，和想象中的国产爱情片完全不同，买票时工作人员还特意提醒我是上海话。

刻意的美化离异后的生活状态，刻意弱化女人之间的情绪，刻意消解白辛苦背后的本质，好像所有人都有钱有闲，爱情只是餐后甜点，离异之后绝不仅仅是不敢尝试新的剧本，不敢接受感情而已。老白的本质，只是工具人，是真正意义上的白辛苦。
本来就有预期它好看，看完之后还是觉得好看！
